If your CCTV system could think — what would you ask it?
At a time when artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly prominent in various sectors, it is crucial that AI solutions are not only technologically advanced, but also meet strict ethical and legal standards. VAIBS, with its Vaidio platform, is committed to meeting these requirements. We spoke to Henk-Jan Hop, COO of VAIBS, about how the company ensures that Vaidio is in line with the European AI Act and other important standards.
“”At VAIBS, we understand the importance of the European AI Act and its impact on AI developments within Europe,”” begins Hop. “”The Vaidio platform is designed with a strong focus on ethics, transparency and accountability, ensuring we comply with the principles and guidelines required by the AI Act.””
The European AI Act, which recently came into force, is the world’s first legislation specifically aimed at regulating AI systems. The aim of this act is to ensure that AI systems are safe, ethical and reliable. The law takes a risk-based approach, classifying AI applications into four categories: minimal or no risk, limited risk, high risk and unacceptable risk. Depending on the risk category, different obligations and restrictions apply to the development and deployment of AI systems.
“”For Vaidio, this means constantly evaluating and adapting our AI solutions to meet the AI Act’s specific requirements for different levels of risk. This includes implementing transparency obligations for low-risk systems and complying with stringent requirements for high-risk AI applications. Our goal is not only to comply with regulations, but also to ensure the trust of our users and partners by providing ethical and responsible AI solutions.””
Henk-Jan Hop, COO at VAIBS
Besides the European AI Act, the Vaidio platform attaches great importance to other ethical frameworks. “”For example, there is an AI Code of Ethics Policy that forms the basis of our development processes,”” Hop said. “”We ensure that our datasets for training AI models are carefully selected and used, with respect for privacy and without bias.””
VAIBS also strives to follow globally recognised standards with the Vaidio platform. Hop: “”Besides the European AI Act and the fact that we have an AI Code of Ethics Policy, the Vaidio platform has further committed to the AI G7 Code of Conduct, underlining our commitment to international cooperation and adherence to best practices. In addition, Vaidio is NDAA-compliant, meaning that our platform complies with US National Defense Authorization Act requirements, and we are fully compliant with GDPR for data protection within the EU.””
Compliance with these standards is not merely theoretical. Hop: “”In practice, it means that our customers can rest assured that AI models are properly trained on approved datasets.”” In addition, Vaidio offers features such as automatic blurring of detected individuals to ensure privacy. In addition, we restrict access to video views and downloads, our database is encrypted and we ensure that only authorised individuals can access sensitive data.””
This commitment to compliance and ethics positions VAIBS as a trusted player in the AI industry, with the Vaidio platform being not only technologically advanced but also an example of responsible and ethical AI use.
