Generative AI in Vaidio: the next step in Video AI Analytics

The prominence and applicability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have gained momentum. Innovative tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini are a driving force behind this rapidly increasing popularity. These tools are a form of Generative AI. A form of artificial intelligence that is also available within the Vaidio platform as of the 8.0 release. What exactly is Generative AI and what added value does it bring within Vaidio? You’ll find out in this article!

Wat is Generative AI?

Generative AI is a form of artificial intelligence (AI) capable of creating new, unique content. This form of AI uses algorithms to generate that content. Think of videos, images, text and more. An important feature here is that there is no human involved.

The technology is capable of turning certain inputs into something entirely new, which can be used for different applications. For example, an artwork or a story, but also to functionality within a Video AI Analytics platform, such as Vaidio. It not only analyses existing data, but also creates new data.

Of course, this is a very succinct explanation of exactly what Generative AI is. To fathom the yellow technology, you will be a lot of effort away. The beauty, however, is this: to benefit from Generative AI, you don’t have to understand it completely.

How is Generative AI applied within Vaidio?

As mentioned, Generative AI offers many possibilities. Therefore, we are proud to say that we are introducing this form of artificial intelligence in the 8.0 release of Vaidio platform. In this release, Generative AI is going to play an important role in several ways, which can be summarised in four points:

• Generative search on metadata from Vaidio
• Expanding vocabulary
• Understanding complex behaviour better
• Faster development of new AI engines

Generative search on metadata from Vaidio

With the introduction of Generative AI, from Vaidio 8.0 it is possible to search within footage in a conversational manner. Whereas in current versions searches can only be performed via the smart filters in Vaidio Video Search, from Vaidio 8.0 onwards it is therefore possible to do so based on entered text. Think of it as entering a ChatGPT prompt: ‘Show me all persons wearing a red shirt, dark blue trousers and a backpack walking past all outdoor cameras between 03:00 and 05:00 in the past week’. Vaidio will almost immediately show all results these match the search query entered.

Expanding vocabulary

To perform these searches, Vaidio obviously needs to have a wide vocabulary. With the advent of Generative AI, this will also be expanded. Vaidio 8.0 will have a vocabulary of more than 50,000 terms. That is double what is needed to understand an average newspaper as a reader. More than enough, in other words!

Understanding complex behaviour better

The application of Generative AI within Vaidio, also boosts the accuracy needed to recognise complex behaviour. Think, for instance, of theft or aggression. In addition, it helps Vaidio distinguish objects that are very similar from each other even better. This provides opportunities for wider application of Video AI Analytics.

Faster development of new AI engines

Another big advantage of Generative AI, is that it helps develop new AI engines significantly faster. As mentioned, the technology understands even better what is happening on screen. This ensures that the training process will be more efficient and Vaidio can be more quickly adapted to specific use cases.
